GENERAL Hosptial actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez has permanently left the show and fans are mourning.
Nicholas, 24, played Spencer Cassadine in the series since 2021.
He won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series for his role.
The actor took a leave of absence from General Hospital to appear on the Netflix show Monster – a show about true crime.
It was revealed this week that he will not be returning to the show, according to TVLine.
General Hospital hasn’t made a statement about his leave, but several sources spoke to the outlet.
Fans thought he was exiting the show when his name was removed from the show’s credits.
On Nicholas’ last episode of the soap opera, his character Spencer was presumed to have died after falling off a boat into the Seine River.
The episode aired in January, one month after he started shooting Monster with Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.
Nicholas will star in the second season as one of the Mendez Brothers – two brothers who were convicted of killing their parents.
The first season starred Evan Peters as the feared serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
MORE THAN LOVED
Fans of the television show on X, formerly known as Twitter, lamented online after it was revealed Nicholas would not return.
One said, “What a loss for GH. He has such a screen presence. Fab actor.”
“Not shocked. They can recast â itâs what the soaps do!” added another.
A third wrote, “We all knew this was gonna happen. HE LEVELED UP.”
“This is not a shocker he is a very talented actor and probably has a lot of offers after doing his latest movie on Netflix.
“l am so disappointed that there will be a recast I absolutely loved Nickolas Chavez in this role of Spencer Cassdine,” commented a fan.
A fifth stated, “As much as I enjoyed him on GH, I’m happy that the kid is finding success elsewhere.
“He’s a very gifted young actor and I have no doubt after his season of MONSTER comes out, EVERYONE is gonna be knocking on his door.”
Regarding the role of Spencer, Nicholas admitted, “Itâs changed everything about me,” in an interview with People.
Before he started on General Hospital, he was selling cars in Florida while driving his father’s old Jeep.
After the role, he moved across the country and purchased his own vehicle.
He said it’s been a “privilege to earn an income doing what I love to do every single day” before calling himself the luckiest guy in the world.
Deadline is reporting that Nicholas Alexander Chavez has bagged yet another starring role in a big production. The GH alum will soon be seen alongside Lola Tung, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette in the sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. The OG installment of the film came out in 1997 and starred, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe in prominent roles.
The story was weaved around four friends who were stalked by a hook-wielding maniac following a tragic accident. In 2006, a sequel of the film came out. It was titled â Â I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. When we think about the storyline of the OG film, we canât help but chuckle at the mention of a âhook-wielding maniac â.
